Heather Jenkins, Regional Stroke Education Coordinator

We are delighted to welcome Heather Jenkins to the role of Regional Stroke Education Coordinator with the Stroke Network of Southeastern Ontario.Heather obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Memorial University NFLD in 1999, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University in 2002. Heather will complete a Masters of Science in Healthcare Quality from Queen’s University in August.  Heather obtained IDEAS quality improvement program certification in 2015, participating in an advanced training program focused on improving flow of stroke patients from acute to inpatient rehabilitation.Heather worked on the Acute Stroke Team at KHSC from 2002 to 2016. During that time she developed and delivered outreach education in the region on a variety of best practices in stroke care. Heather has been a clinical instructor, teaching assistant and guest lecturer for Queen’s University School of Rehabilitation Therapy.  Providing coverage for Physiotherapy Practice Leaders, she also gained experience in issues related to service workflow. Following her work in stroke care, Heather filled the role of Home First Implementation Specialist and Patient Flow Coordinator, responsible for implementing a variety of patient flow initiatives.With nearly 17 years of clinical, educational and program planning experience, Heather brings strong expertise and new ideas to our program.
