Stroke Network of Southeastern Ontario Congratulates Brockville General Hospital on Community Stroke Rehab Program Launch
Congratulations to Brockville General on the successful launch of its new Community Stroke Rehabilitation Program. The first patient was seen on March 30, 2026! This important milestone expands access to high‑quality, interdisciplinary stroke rehabilitation services for individuals living in the region.
Throughout Stroke and Aphasia Awareness Month, people across the stroke care continuum came together to raise awareness of stroke signs and symptoms and the importance of seeking emergency care without delay.
Across Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFLA), Hastings Prince Edward (HPE); and Lanark, Leeds and Grenville (LLG), stroke survivors, health care providers, community organizations, hospitals, first responders, municipalities, local politicians and community partners all played a role in getting the FAST message out.
More than 2,000 FAST posters, magnets, bookmarks and other stroke awareness materials were shared across the region in June alone, helping bring this important message into community spaces and everyday conversations.
On June 10, 2026, Kingston hosted the 2026 Stroke Symposium - a landmark event for our network that brought together healthcare professionals and advocates from across the region and the entire continuum of care. Demand was exceptionally high this year; to accommodate interest, we expanded capacity and welcomed a record-breaking 187 attendees.
In November 2025 — The Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations (CSBPR) released the 7th Edition of Rehabilitation, Recovery and Community Participation Following Stroke, marking a significant national update to stroke rehabilitation guidance across the continuum of care. The 2025 edition reflects evolving evidence, emerging therapies, and an increased emphasis on patient-centred and community-integrated care. The revised edition is structured to support clinicians, administrators, and system planners. The updated recommendations are organized into three parts
The Stroke Network of Southeastern Ontario (SNSEO) offers Stroke Care Field Training Experiences to support health care professionals across the stroke continuum. These learner-driven opportunities connect individuals or groups with stroke care experts through one-on-one or small group sessions, strengthening practical knowledge, hands-on skills, and confidence in stroke care.
