From 2002 to 2004, the Stroke Rehabilitation Pilot Project of SEO investigated ways to improve the rehabilitation system for stroke survivors, their families and their health-care providers. One part of this project investigated enhancing the timeliness and intensity of community-based rehabilitation services on discharge from inpatient rehabilitation. The results indicated significantly greater change in function in those stroke clients that received the enhanced therapy.
