National Stroke Distinction Awarded to Kingston General Hospital for its Acute Care Services by Accreditation Canada

KGH received the prestigious Stroke Distinction Award for Acute Stroke Services from Accreditation Canada on December 14, 2012 and again in 2014. The distinction status continues to be sustained with most recent letter in 2016. This award recognizes KGH as one of the top national leaders in demonstrating clinical excellence and commitment to stroke care and prevention. The positive shift in the leve of service provided to stroke survivors was the result of a collaborative effort of many individuals at KGH including many partners from EMS through to rehabilitation and the community. The Stroke Distinction process continues to be an effective quality improvement method requiring the Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for stroke care and prevention be fully implemented.
