National Recognition for the Stroke Network of SEO at the Canadian Stroke Congress Oct 2019

The Canadian Stroke Congress took place in Ottawa in Oct 2019 bringing together leading stroke experts from across Canada and beyond. Teams delivered presentations and posters to share an impressive array of learning from across the continuum of stroke care within Southeastern Ontario.      Dr. Ramana Appireddy delivered an oral presentation on the use of E-Visits in the KHSC Stroke Prevention Clinic as recently published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research: “Home Virtual Visits for Outpatient Follow-Up Stroke Care: Cross Sectional Study”.   One poster described the local implementation of the ACT-FAST Screening Tool to triage potential candidates for Endovascular Thrombectomy up to 24 hours.  A poster described improved linkages for patients upon discharge from acute stroke units to community and primary care services through referral to SE LHIN Home and Community Care Rapid Response Nurses. Three posters described local work to implement and evaluate Aphasia Conversation Groups and related services.  Those present at the Congress had the pleasure of receiving the Stroke Distinction Award on behalf of KHSC, received for the third time in 2019 (see picture). The posters were presented locally at the Regional Stroke Symposium held Nov 2019. To view the presentations delivered at the Canadian Stroke Congress, follow the link below.
